GSKBio launches Building 40 controls with Thermo Systems

GSKBio, a global biopharmaceutical company, needed to upgrade the Building Management System (BMS) and implement a new Particle Environmental Monitoring System (PEMS) for Building 40 at its Pennsylvania vaccine facility. Thermo Systems was engaged as a trusted partner to first assess the existing controls and then provide a comprehensive automation solution to manage the critical environments required for pharmaceutical production.

Thermo Systems implemented a non-proprietary Rockwell Automation-based solution, integrating new PLCs with legacy controllers under a unified SCADA platform. By leveraging their deep facility knowledge, Thermo Systems streamlined the design, reduced costs and risks, and met the client’s aggressive schedule. The successful project enabled the newly renovated facility to become operational, starting with the packaging of a hepatitis B vaccine.
