South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust needed a better way to manage the huge volume of paper-based records moving around the organisation. With around 74 tons of documentation circulating each year, staff struggled to capture, store, and share information efficiently, which affected service quality and patient care. Therefore Corporation helped address this challenge with an ADOS document management solution and document scanners.

Therefore Corporation implemented a scalable document management system that scanned and indexed 500,000 A&E casualty cards, stored files as TIFFs, and integrated with the Trust’s existing SAN strategy. The results included saving 400 metres of shelf space, freeing office space, improving access to information, reducing administrative time, and enabling faster cross-checking of records. The solution was easy to learn and use, and the Trust later expanded it with additional scanning stations.
