Mobile App and iPads Deployed to Successfully Engage and Train In-Store Employees

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), a global restaurant brand with more than 14,000 employees, faced fragmented, costly training and communication—materials on DVDs and binders, limited access for part-time millennial staff without company email, and no front-line intranet access. To modernize training and provide mobile-friendly, branded content on tablets, CPK selected theEMPLOYEEapp and built a white‑labeled mobile solution called PizzaWise for use on in-restaurant iPads.

theEMPLOYEEapp deployed PizzaWise quickly and with minimal IT effort, storing videos, documents, images and proprietary recipes centrally and pushing updates instantly to locations. Launched in July 2015, PizzaWise was installed on iPads in 200 restaurants across 35 states; employees open the app over 8.5 times per day, increasing station efficiency and cutting the time and expense previously spent updating paper and DVD materials.
