Upstate Vet faced fragmented internal communications ahead of a planned merger: a single department was overwhelmed by employee emails, the intranet was inaccessible and unused, and there was no reliable way to alert staff about urgent issues or share policies and training. To unify teams and boost morale during the merger, Upstate Vet launched theEMPLOYEEapp in October 2017 and retired their old intranet.
theEMPLOYEEapp provided push notifications, News Feed/Explore pages, role-based permissions and multiple app profiles (specialty vs. ER, then Greenville and Asheville) to deliver targeted, timely content and enable peer posts and shift swaps. The results: 98% employee registration and use, 100% of registered users active monthly, nearly 20,000 content opens in H1 2020 (about 16 opens per user per month), top rankings for comments and likes among clients, and measurable increases in engagement, inclusion, and post-merger integration.
