TexProtects Capitalizes on Advocacy Tools to Renew Legislation

TexProtects, The Texas Association for the Protection of Children, is a Dallas-based nonprofit that works to reduce and prevent child abuse through research, education and advocacy. Facing the imminent 2015 sunset of the federal Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program and hampered by a difficult, non‑customizable CRM that made data analysis and outreach cumbersome, TexProtects needed a way to rapidly mobilize supporters and influence Congress.

By using thedatabank’s PowerMail to contact over 8,000 Texas supporters and its Advocacy Action tool to enable direct messages to legislators, TexProtects helped lead a coalition effort that secured a two‑year extension of MIECHV, preserving services for thousands of families. The new system also centralized fundraising and campaign data, cut time spent managing spreadsheets, improved reporting and customization, and increased advocate, member and donor engagement.
