A thedatabank Case Study
Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) is a nonprofit that has invested in businesses across Kentucky and Central Appalachia since 1976, providing loans and technical assistance to strengthen local economies. MACED faced information silos—only one person had access to performance records—so teams needed a centralized system to track loan origination and sales pipelines, monitor technical assistance projects (staff, consultants, hours, status), and extract reliable data for impact reporting.
MACED implemented a custom Databank solution with a loan module, a Technical Assistance module, special outcome reports, and a weekly Pipeline dashboard. The system eliminated data silos, improved timekeeping and project monitoring, and helped secure more funding; in five years MACED invested $12.6M and created or retained 600+ jobs, increased reported TA hours from 2,000 to 3,300 per year (a 65% rise), and gained about 1,300 additional service hours annually.
