Episcopal Diocese of Washington - Customer Case Study

The Episcopal Diocese of Washington (EDOW) oversees 87 congregations with more than 38,000 members across Maryland and the District of Columbia. Producing the annual directory was time-consuming and error-prone, requiring repeated phone calls, manual data entry, extra work to publish online, and a need to better capture diocesan-level contacts and donations. EDOW’s goals were to cut production time, make it easier for congregations to submit updates, and consolidate database and communication needs into a single CRM.

The Databank analyzed EDOW’s processes, built a secure portal for congregations to enter directory data, provided review and PowerMail communication tools for diocesan staff, automated formatted outputs for publication, and imported diocesan contact and donor records into the CRM. Since implementation in 2013, EDOW has significantly reduced staff time, increased data accuracy and accessibility, simplified directory publication, and achieved cost savings that more than cover their Databank subscription.
