Conservation Alabama uses the Databank to get out the vote

Conservation Alabama mobilized supporters in 2012 to pass Amendment One, a 20-year extension of the Forever Wild Land Trust, and faced the challenge of educating and turning out voters across the state. They needed to recruit local hosts, run public events and phone outreach, and ramp up fundraising to support a statewide campaign.

Using the Databank tools—newsletter outreach to recruit hosts, an online donation form, and the Advocacy Module for action alerts—Conservation Alabama organized 75 speaking events, held a telephone town hall that reached nearly 40,000 voters, and boosted online giving to contribute $150,000 toward a $1 million campaign. The effort reached about 750,000 voters, earned a 75% “Yes” vote (the largest margin for any conservation referendum in the country), and increased their Facebook likes five-fold, which they plan to better integrate with their Databank tools.
