Treezor, a French Banking-as-a-Service innovator, needed a cloud-based hardware security module (HSM) root of trust to meet stringent payments regulations (PCI‑DSS, SEPA) and to encrypt primary account numbers (PAN) within its payment gateway. Wanting to avoid on‑premises HSM management and adopt an OpEx model, Treezor selected Thales and its Thales Data Protection on Demand (DPoD) cloud HSM and key management solution (including Luna Cloud HSM) to deliver the required security, flexibility and ease of deployment.

Thales provided a managed DPoD/Luna Cloud HSM service—backed by a 30‑day trial, point‑and‑click provisioning, redundancy, high availability, backups and a 99.95% SLA—enabling Treezor to integrate certified key vaults with its APIs and payment platform quickly and without upfront investment. The Thales solution helped Treezor meet compliance requirements, encrypt PANs, and scale securely to support around 30 fintech customers while handling up to €3 billion in annual transaction flow and 300,000 issued cards; Treezor is now positioned to roll out additional services such as digital signing.
