DataMesh, headquartered in Sydney, Australia, set out to build a fully PCI and EMV compliant Card Present and Card Not Present payment switching network to serve major retailers without becoming an acquirer. To meet AusPayNet, PCI and APRA requirements and scale across multiple cloud providers and data centers, DataMesh engaged Thales and adopted its payShield HSM products (payShield 9000, payShield 10000) and payShield Manager for secure cryptographic processing and remote management.

Thales implemented clustered payShield 9000 and 10000 HSMs in an Active:Active, multi-location configuration with TLS-protected links to cloud environments and central management via payShield Manager. The Thales solution delivered hardware-secured cryptography, ensured regulatory compliance (AusPayNet/PCI/APRA), reduced operational risk and management costs through remote administration and license upgrades, and enabled DataMesh to dramatically increase transaction capacity — supporting faster growth and onboarding of additional merchant customers.
