SCHUHFRIED Reduces Costs and Better Meets Customer Needs with Thales Sentinel

SCHUHFRIED, creator of the Vienna Test System and a global leader in psychological testing used in more than 68 countries and 31 languages, faced unreliable legacy licensing as it prepared industry-specific versions of its VTS product line. To securely monetize and enforce feature-based access to its tests and modules, SCHUHFRIED sought a modern licensing platform from Thales (Thales Sentinel).

Thales implemented its Sentinel suite (including Sentinel LDK, EMS and HL SL) to deliver feature-based, single‑seat and floating licenses, integrate licensing with SCHUHFRIED’s ERP for automated dongle/order fulfillment, and protect proprietary test code. The Thales Sentinel deployment—completed in stages over several months—made licensing “virtually trouble‑free,” reduced manual errors and operational costs, enabled rapid packaging of market‑specific VTS editions without engineering changes, and ensured stronger IP protection and compliance.
