psmtec, a Germany-based developer of gaming machines and software, needed a robust licensing solution to protect costly software and embedded hardware from tampering, support time-based/expiring licenses for regulatory compliance, and enable fast, frequent updates. To meet these requirements they selected Thales and its Thales Sentinel licensing products.

Thales implemented Thales Sentinel (including Sentinel LDK, Sentinel EMS and hardware dongles) to provide flexible license enforcement, entitlement management and hardware-based time-limited licensing. The Thales solution strengthened protection, enabled dynamic packaging and pricing, and made updates seamless—reducing field maintenance to about 10 minutes per platform—and supports multiple yearly update cycles while ensuring regulatory compliance.
