A Thales Case Study
Prominvestbank, one of Ukraine’s largest banks, needed a stronger public key infrastructure to meet the National Bank of Ukraine’s SEP requirements and to protect high‑risk transactions. Seeking hardware‑backed key security, multi‑factor authentication and high availability, Prominvestbank selected Thales solutions including the Luna Network HSM, eToken 5100 and SafeNet Authentication Manager to replace its internally developed system.
Thales deployed Luna HSMs to keep private keys protected in hardware with cryptographically isolated partitions and automated key synchronization, and provided eToken 5100 tokens plus SafeNet Authentication Manager for centralized, certificate‑based two‑factor authentication and lifecycle management. As a result, Prominvestbank expanded PKI use beyond internal payment systems to securely authenticate online banking customers and accept signed transactions online, while gaining defense‑in‑depth key protection, higher availability, centralized administration and reduced IT overhead.
