A Thales Case Study
NASDAQ OMX Group, the inventor of the electronic exchange, created FinQloud to offer cloud services to financial firms but faced the twin challenges of meeting stringent security and regulatory mandates while reducing IT costs. To ensure cryptographic keys and customer data met industry rules and audit requirements, NASDAQ OMX Group selected Thales and its Luna Network HSMs to provide the required key protection and compliance controls.
Thales implemented Luna Network HSMs to store and manage encryption keys with FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL 4+ validated tamper resistance, high-availability clustering, and cloud-friendly integration. As a result, FinQloud was independently audited and confirmed compliant with relevant mandates (including SEC Rule 17a-4 and CFTC Rule 1.31), enabling NASDAQ OMX Group to offer secure, compliant cloud services while giving customers the cost and agility benefits of the cloud.
