Major North American Bank Improves Compliance and Simplifies Data Security across Hybrid IT

Major North American Bank faced substantial financial and regulatory risk from rising cybercrime and a complex hybrid IT estate (private and public clouds, SaaS and legacy on‑prem systems) that threatened visibility and control over sensitive data and cryptographic keys. To meet strict mandates such as PCI DSS, FIPS, NYDFS, GDPR and CCPA and simplify BYOK management, the bank engaged Thales and selected the CipherTrust Data Security Platform, including CipherTrust Transparent Encryption.

Thales deployed CipherTrust Transparent Encryption to pseudonymize and encrypt data-at-rest across on‑premises, multi‑cloud, big data and container environments, and used CipherTrust Manager with Luna HSMs to centralize key lifecycle and convert BYOK into a hold‑your‑own‑key model. The implementation delivered single‑pane centralized enforcement and auditing, simplified and more secure key management across Azure, AWS, Salesforce, NetApp and third‑party platforms, and gave the bank complete on‑prem control of keys extended to the cloud—elevating compliance and reducing the likelihood of a breach.
