Large European Financial Institution Enhances Security and Compliance Posture in the Hybrid Cloud

Large European Financial Institution, which processes trillions of dollars in transactions and runs FX operations across multiple countries, faced limited visibility and control over sensitive personal and financial data in a complex hybrid environment subject to PCI, GDPR and other regulations. To address centralized governance and FIPS 140-2 key security requirements, the institution engaged Thales and deployed the CipherTrust Data Security Platform including CipherTrust Transparent Encryption, CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager and Thales’ cloud-based Luna Hardware Security Module.

Thales implemented centralized policy controls, transparent data-at-rest encryption, and on-premises cloud key management so the customer owns and audits encryption keys used across Azure and Office 365, with cryptographic roots secured in a FIPS 140-2 cloud HSM. The result was 360-degree visibility and granular access policies across on-premises, multi-cloud and container environments, stronger compliance posture for PCI, GDPR and Schrems II considerations, and a scalable platform that enabled expansion to AWS and planned rollouts of Salesforce and ServiceNow.
