KeyTalk packages DPoD HSM service with its Secure Email Solution

KeyTalk, an internationally operating Dutch IT security software company, provides a patented Certificate and Key Management System (CKMS) for automated PKI, secure portals, encrypted email and IoT. Its customers required hardware-backed key protection but many did not want to manage physical HSMs — for example, a large German manufacturer needed valid authentication certificates every five days for 30,000 workstations across 1,000 locations. KeyTalk leveraged Thales and its Luna HSMs to explore cloud options and evaluated Thales Data Protection on Demand (DPoD) to meet this demand.

Thales DPoD Luna Cloud HSM was integrated with the KeyTalk CKMS (via the Luna Universal Client) and packaged into KeyTalk’s hosted offerings — including a Secure Email service developed with GlobalSign — to store signing keys and database encryption keys securely in the cloud. The Thales solution enabled automated, scalable certificate issuance for large deployments (the 30,000‑workstation use case), removed upfront hardware investment through monthly billing, simplified setup, and was added to KeyTalk’s official price list and partner/reseller offerings, delivering a flexible, cost‑effective managed HSM service.
