Hong Kong Government Agency - Customer Case Study

The Hong Kong Government Agency needed to enforce the Hong Kong IT Security Guidelines (G3) by deploying two‑factor/multi‑factor authentication for more than 1,000 internal staff (with plans to scale to another 3,000). They required a simple, secure MFA solution that integrated seamlessly with existing privilege account management (PAM), VPN, web and legacy directory services as well as home‑grown applications. Thales’s SafeNet Authentication Service Private Cloud Edition (SAS‑PCE) was selected to meet these requirements.

Thales deployed SAS‑PCE as an on‑premises authentication platform with out‑of‑the‑box integrations, APIs and RADIUS support, providing a wide range of hardware, software and mobile token options plus automated lifecycle administration and a self‑service portal. The solution strengthened security and ensured G3 compliance while minimizing user disruption, reduced IT management overhead and administration costs, and delivered measurable benefits—including automated provisioning/revocation and potential total cost‑of‑ownership savings of up to 60%—with scalability for future user growth.
