Global Automotive Manufacturer Improves Security and Compliance Across Cloud and Legacy Systems

Major Automobile Manufacturer, a global carmaker with operations and hundreds of thousands of employees across many countries, faced rising volumes of sensitive data across cloud and legacy systems after rapid digital transformation. The organization needed to protect data in multiple Salesforce and Office 365 tenants, secure sensitive information on legacy Windows, Linux and HP-UX systems, and tighten access controls to meet GDPR, PCI and other regional compliance requirements. Thales was engaged to address these challenges using solutions including Ciphertrust Cloud Key Manager (CCKM), Ciphertrust Transparent Encryption and Luna Hardware Security Modules (HSM)–based PKI access management.

Thales implemented centralized key management for cloud SaaS with CCKM, deployed Ciphertrust Transparent Encryption to secure legacy systems with granular access policies, and used Luna HSM–backed PKI to authenticate hundreds of thousands of employees. As a result, the Major Automobile Manufacturer reduced breach risk, enabled safe continued use of cloud services, accelerated compliance with PCI and GDPR through centralized policy enforcement, and provided secure, scalable access for its global workforce.
