Colombia Secures Citizens’ Access to Financial Services with Thales Strong Authentication

Fondo Nacional del Ahorro (FNA), Colombia’s government financial institution serving more than 1.5 million users, needed a strong, easy-to-use authentication solution to secure online access to pension accounts and other citizen services without significant infrastructure changes or upfront costs. FNA selected Thales’ cloud-based SafeNet Trusted Access (formerly SafeNet Authentication Service Cloud Edition) to provide scalable, intuitive two-factor authentication for millions of users.

Thales implemented SafeNet Trusted Access as a cloud MFA service that issues one-time passcodes via SMS or email after username/password entry, allowing FNA to rapidly deploy two-factor authentication with no on-premises infrastructure. The Thales solution secured online pension access for over 1.5 million users, simplified enrollment and token provisioning, and enabled the government to scale authentication for millions of citizens while avoiding upfront capital expenditures.
