Vormetric Encryption Helps Accounting Giant Secure All Data

Crowe Horwath LLP, one of the 10 largest accounting organizations in the world, needed an encryption solution that could meet the varied regulatory requirements of its clients, including GLBA, SOX, HIPAA and FIPS 140-2. Its legacy disk and database-level encryption was cumbersome to administer and lacked strong key management, while its mobile workforce needed data-level protection across Windows laptops and a Microsoft SQL Server-based environment.

Crowe Horwath LLP chose Thales e-Security’s Vormetric Data Security Manager after a month-long proof of concept and expanded it into production with Vormetric Professional Services. The company now encrypts SQL Server databases and backed-up data in encrypted form, while reporting low operational overhead, no need for extra administrators, and a measurable performance improvement over its legacy encryption product.
