Vormetric Data Security Makes the Grade at American River College

American River College, a public community college serving 38,000 students in the Greater Sacramento region, needed to protect personally identifiable information for student grants, services, and compliance with FERPA and other reporting requirements. The college had to secure MSSQL databases, flat files, proprietary database information, scanned document images, and a digital warehouse with over 300 gigabytes of student enrollment history without changing existing custom applications.

American River College chose Thales e-Security’s Vormetric Data Security and implementation services to encrypt folders, volumes, and other high-risk data in a mixed physical and virtual environment. The deployment met tight deadlines, the first phase was completed in four days, and IT operations were not disrupted. Thales e-Security’s solution was described as scalable, easy to manage, and virtually invisible, with imperceptible impact on performance and simpler administration through standard Active Directory groups.
