National Digital Certification Agency - Customer Case Study
The National Digital Certification Agency launched a project to re-engineer Tunisia’s national public key infrastructure as part of Digital Tunisia 2020. The agency needed to move from its existing PKI quickly, strengthen trust in online government and commercial transactions, and meet new digital certification regulations. It chose Thales e-Security to help secure the initiative with hardware security modules.
Thales e-Security provided nShield HSMs alongside a new PKI from PrimeKey, with integration support and training for the NDCA technical team. The HSMs protected root and certification authority keys, supported services such as OCSP, and secured transactions for e-commerce, tax payments, customs declarations, e-procurement, and e-passports and eID cards. The solution was installed in two datacenters for production and backup, and Thales’ direct collaboration with PrimeKey helped the project run smoothly.
