A Thales e-Security Case Study
The Major Pharmaceutical Company’s Subsidiary, a healthcare connectivity and information technology organization, needed a way to retain seven years of historical claims and remit data while processing millions of claims each day. Its in-house database systems were maxed out, causing problems in real-time production processing, and the team also needed a platform that could support data optimization while meeting strict compliance requirements.
The subsidiary deployed Thales e-Security with Cloudera Enterprise Data Hub Edition after selecting Hadoop for the data platform. Thales e-Security’s Vormetric solution provided centrally managed encryption and key management for regulated data, while Cloudera handled data movement and processing; the company now uses 24x7 feeds, processes about 1 TB per day, and has archived 30 TB across 10 CDH nodes in 4 months. The result was faster provider payments through streamlined messaging to payers, 10x lower storage cost than traditional relational data warehouse technology, and simpler deployment and administration with minimal ongoing maintenance.
