Jeju National University Hospital strengthens patient data protection with Thales e-Security for South Korea’s PIPA compliance

Jeju National University Hospital (JNUH), a public hospital in South Korea, needed to enhance the security of sensitive patient data within its integrated medical information system. Their challenge was to exceed industry requirements and comply with South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). To meet this challenge, JNUH worked with vendor Thales e-Security and implemented their Vormetric Transparent Encryption product.

The solution from Thales e-Security provided transparent data encryption for JNUH's systems, which include an Order Communication System and a Picture Archiving Communication System. This integration enabled the hospital to successfully demonstrate its commitment to protecting personally identifiable information and to achieving compliance with the stringent PIPA regulations.
