A Thales e-Security Case Study
Hypercom Corporation, a provider of electronic payment solutions and point-of-sale devices, needed to protect its products from counterfeiting, tampering, and unauthorized access to software or firmware. Because merchants and banks rely on these devices to prevent transaction fraud, Hypercom needed a way to build trust into each device and secure the certificate issuance process used in manufacturing.
Hypercom implemented Thales e-Security hardware security modules to protect its digital certificate issuance process and private keys. The solution helped ensure that only authenticated devices could access downloads and key injection, supported secure remote debit key management, and reduced the need for manual servicing. Hypercom said Thales e-Security helped it lower lifetime operating costs, protect customers from potentially costly data breaches, and maintain a security level that exceeded current standards.
