Certicamara Verifies the Accuracy of Electronic Records with Time Stamps

Certicamara, based in Bogotá, Colombia, provides secure online transaction processing for businesses and government organizations. As customers needed a way to verify not only identities but also when an electronic interaction occurred and whether data was changed, Certicamara sought a tamper-proof time stamping solution. It used the Thales Time Stamp Server, part of the nCipher product line, to attest the time and origin of electronic records.

With Thales e-Security, Certicamara implemented secure time stamping using the Thales Time Stamp Server, the Thales Time Source Master Clock, and the Thales TSS Toolkit. The server stamps electronic records with a digital signature in about 10 milliseconds, helping Certicamara support simultaneous users without slowing transactions. The service was adopted for uses such as Colombia’s Ministry of Transportation online vehicle registration and Ministry of Finance transactions, and it is being used in a government purchasing process to help prevent corruption and manipulation of bids.
