BD, a global medical devices company, consolidated operations onto a US-based single global instance of SAP with an Oracle database to support faster decision making and greater business agility. That consolidation required strict data control and security across multiple countries, along with transparent encryption, advanced logging and monitoring, and protection against insider threats and third-party access.

Thales e-Security provided the Vormetric Data Security Platform, including Vormetric Transparent Encryption and Vormetric Key Management, to secure the SAP environment without changing the database. The platform was extended across on-premise and cloud systems on Microsoft Azure, giving BD flexible enterprise-wide encryption, centralized key custody, and access controls that let IT teams work without direct access to the data itself.
