A Thales e-Security Case Study

Preview of the Antwerp Port Authority Case Study

Antwerp Port Authority secures 16,000 annual ship invoices with Thales e-Security

The Antwerp Port Authority, which manages one of the world's largest ports, needed to establish a secure electronic invoicing solution to comply with a European VAT directive. The challenge was to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of thousands of electronic invoices while integrating with their existing technology partners. To meet this need, they selected Thales e-Security and its Luna Network Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).

Thales implemented a solution where the Luna HSM securely stored the digital signatures and cryptographic keys used to sign invoice PDFs. This integrated with the port's existing Adobe and GlobalSign systems to create a compliant, automated process. The result allowed the Antwerp Port Authority to leverage its IT investments to streamline workflow, lower billing costs, and meet mandatory compliance directives, all while guaranteeing the integrity and authenticity of every electronic invoice.
