Barilla, the Italian family-owned food company, needed a better way for its HR team in Avon, New York to communicate with a 160-person plant workforce. Relying on a personal phone, email, bulletin boards, and occasional in-person meetings made it hard to reach employees quickly, ensure messages were seen during different shifts, and avoid the chaos of group texts and reply-all chains.

Barilla implemented TextUs as a mass SMS communication tool for HR messages, open enrollment, event updates, factory closings, giveaways, and shift/overtime scheduling. With TextUs, the HR team saw faster and higher response rates than email, achieved quicker shift coverage, and gained a simpler, more consistent way to send important updates at scale. Barilla also plans to expand TextUs for recruiting and onboarding, supported by TextUs’s easy-to-use platform, shared inbox, and helpful training resources.
