Why SMS is a ‘Golden Opportunity’ for car dealerships

Baylis Group, one of the largest independently managed Vauxhall groups in the UK, needed a fast, reliable way to alert customers when their cars were due for MOTs or services and to drive attendance at their annual “Golden Opportunity” events. They engaged Textlocal’s SMS service — using short links and merge fields — to ensure messages were seen and to make it easy for customers to book online.

Textlocal implemented daily, personalized SMS reminders with trackable short links to Baylis Group’s online booking form and event pages, plus hands-on account support to streamline campaigns. The result was a consistent stream of customers returning for MOTs and services, fewer no-shows, and over 3,000 (8.5%) click-throughs to the Golden Opportunity event page in February 2017 — a significant improvement over the previous mailed-brochure approach to 25,000 customers.
