Case Study: Derbyshire County Council achieves rapid distribution of 26,000 Christmas food vouchers with Textlocal

Utilising SMS to Support the Delivery of the Government COVID Winter Grant Scheme

Derbyshire County Council faced the challenge of quickly distributing 26,000 £30 grocery vouchers under the Government COVID Winter Grant Scheme to eligible families in time for Christmas. To meet this deadline the Council used Textlocal’s SMS platform to reach parents and carers efficiently via the mobile numbers already held by schools and the Council.

Textlocal’s SMS solution provided reusable message templates with a customizable field for unique voucher codes, bulk sending, delivery reporting and preview screens to verify content before sending. Using Textlocal, the Council sent 19,000 vouchers by text in early December and a further 2,000 in the New Year, helping ensure £30 vouchers reached thousands of Derbyshire children (including pre-school children and young people leaving care) with clear tracking and confirmation of delivery.
