Southdown PSV Ltd, a bus operator servicing Kent, Surrey and Sussex, needed a fast, reliable way to inform passengers of delays, disruptions and cancellations. To solve this they adopted Textlocal’s Bulk SMS software — using the Messenger platform and the purchased keyword “BUS” on 60777 — to provide immediate, route-specific alerts to passengers and drivers.

Textlocal implemented a system of unlimited sub-keywords (one per route) so passengers text their route keyword to 60777 to opt in and receive targeted messages stored in separate inboxes for easy sending. The result: telephone enquiries during disruptions have fallen by 40%, real-time passenger communication has improved, drivers receive timely route updates, and Southdown PSV plans to roll out MMS ticketing — demonstrating Textlocal reduced resource drain and improved operational efficiency.
