Network Rail keeps staff literacy right on track with Read&Write

Network Rail, a UK public organization responsible for the rail infrastructure, faced the challenge of supporting a large, diverse workforce with varying literacy needs, including employees with dyslexia. Many staff were reluctant to disclose their difficulties due to stigma, which hindered the company's ability to provide assistive tools and meet its equality legislation obligations. They turned to vendor Texthelp for a solution using their product, Read&Write.

The solution from Texthelp was an enterprise-wide license for Read&Write, making the software available for any employee to download anonymously. This universal, self-serve approach removed the stigma of asking for help. The results were highly positive, with over 660 downloads within two years and steady monthly growth. The tool helped all staff work more accurately and efficiently, improving productivity and reducing stress, and was embraced at all levels of the company from executives to trackside workers.
