Aberdeen schools make curriculum accessible to all learners with Read&Write

Aberdeen City Council sought to reduce educational inequalities and support the literacy development of its over 20,000 pupils by fostering lifelong learning. The challenge was to provide a solution that could offer every student equal opportunities to succeed, championed by their belief in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.

The solution was the implementation of Texthelp's Read&Write software across 59 schools. Texthelp provided a comprehensive engagement and training strategy, resulting in widespread adoption of the literacy tools on Chromebooks and laptops. Pupils and teachers used the software for a variety of applications, from reading PDFs aloud to translating text and improving study skills, which increased accessibility and helped overcome literacy barriers. The deployment also allowed the council to benefit from attractive economies of scale in support and administration.
