The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Works in Partnership with TestReach to Create and Deliver Secure Online Medical Examinations

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), the country’s largest postgraduate medical training body with a global network of 10,000+ Fellows, Members and Trainees, needed a modern online assessment solution to support complex question authoring, item banking and exam assembly and to provide flexible delivery options. After beginning a search in 2019, RCPI faced an urgent challenge when COVID-19 closed test centres and required a secure alternative to ensure doctors could continue high‑stakes qualification exams. RCPI selected TestReach for its authoring, banking and delivery platform, including integrated remote proctoring.

TestReach implemented a single solution combining collaborative question authoring, exam assembly and built‑in remote proctoring, training and scaling its own supervisor workforce to recreate the test‑centre experience online. The partnership allowed RCPI to deliver over 2,700 exams in the first phase, accept candidates from more than 38 countries and maintain candidate satisfaction consistently over 90%, while reducing travel, time away from work and safeguarding the integrity of high‑stakes medical exams.
