Outbrain, a leading global native advertising platform, needed a better way to support end-to-end web testing across its microservices-based environment and continuous delivery pipeline. With applications embedded across more than 100,000 websites, the team found Selenium and Protractor slow to author, difficult to stabilize, and hard to scale across teams. Testim was chosen for its ease of use, strong recorder, and robust smart locators.
With Testim, Outbrain added AI-driven end-to-end UI automation into its CI pipeline via Jenkins, running tests on its own Selenium grid. The solution expanded end-to-end testing from 6 teams to 14, reduced automation time from 10–15% of web engineering hours to 5%, and cut test authoring time from 1–2 days to just 20–30 minutes. Overall, Outbrain reported a 95% reduction in test writing time, about a 50% increase in test coverage, and greater trust in its test safety net.
