A TeselaGen Case Study
The University of Melbourne turned to TeselaGen when Associate Professor Joshua Heazlewood needed to revitalize a stale master’s course on Advanced Molecular Biology Techniques. Faced with the challenge of giving students an immersive synthetic biology experience without a wet lab and lacking user-friendly teaching tools, Heazlewood adopted TeselaGen’s cloud-based Operating System for Biotechnology to provide simulated, hands-on experimental workflows.
TeselaGen provided semester access and 3–4 hour workshops where students ran simulated promoter bashing, cost/pricing calculations, construct design and GFP-based assays using the platform. The outcome: 100% student adoption for the past four years, 363 students trained to date, and 9/10 students reporting TeselaGen as very useful—bringing real-world design-build-test practice into the classroom without a physical lab.
