Mitsubishi Shokuhin, one of Japan's largest food wholesalers, needed to measure and publicly disclose its vast Scope 3 supply chain emissions across over 240,000 product SKUs. The challenge was the impossibility of manually processing the massive amount of scattered data from thousands of suppliers to set reduction targets. Terrascope's platform used AI to automate the categorization of SKUs, enabling Mitsubishi Shokuhin to establish an emissions baseline and identify hotspots, such as frozen foods and alcoholic beverages. This gave the company the confidence to publicly disclose its Scope 3 emissions, which accounted for 99% of its carbon footprint.
