A TerraGo Case Study
Seattle City Light, the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States, delivers power to nearly one million Seattle area residents and employs over 1,800 individuals (employees), including more than a hundred field crews. Crews depended on “flat” CAD maps and radio contact with the System Control Center to locate and fix outages, a slow, multi-step process that required CAD expertise, special software or return trips to depots and left teams without reliable offline access.
Seattle City Light used TerraGo’s GeoPDF® workflow and TerraGo Composer® (and leverages TerraGo Edge for mobile work) to convert CAD data into portable, searchable GeoPDF maps that provide a common operating picture on laptops, online or offline. The system improved response times and streamlined workflows; over 500 individuals are using the system (with another 400 to sign on by year end 2014). TerraGo, founded in 2005 and trusted by over 1,500 global customers based in over 70 countries and all 50 US states, enabled faster, safer and lower‑cost field operations.
