A TerraGo Case Study
Partnership for a Connected Illinois (PCI) is the nonprofit designated by Illinois law to implement a statewide broadband deployment strategy and publish broadband availability and usage data. PCI needed detailed, street- and neighborhood-level maps showing where service exists and at what speeds, and a collaborative way to share and update that geospatial data with carriers, state decision-makers and the public; the work had previously been done by an external vendor and was brought in-house to save money and speed updates.
PCI implemented TerraGo geospatial collaboration tools—using TerraGo Publisher for ArcGIS, GeoPDF maps and TerraGo Toolbar—to produce county-level broadband coverage maps and allow carriers to mark up offline maps and round-trip updates back into PCI’s enterprise GIS. The result was simplified map creation, easier access and updating of broadband data, optimized data sharing among carriers and PCI, and faster, more accurate reporting to stakeholders.
