The Dewberry Hurricane Preparedness Team, part of the Hazard Engineering Services group, conducts hurricane and natural disaster impact studies—vulnerability analyses, evacuation planning, post-storm assessments—and provides baseline data to federal, state and local emergency managers. Their challenge was delivering accurate, timely, location-based maps that non‑GIS users and field responders could easily access, update and share—often in offline, disconnected environments.

Dewberry adopted the TerraGo platform to produce customizable GeoPDF maps from existing Esri ArcGIS assets, enabling layer toggling, smaller file sizes and offline use; users can add photos, videos, hyperlinks, icons and markups. The result is interactive, queryable maps (showing storm surge, evacuation zones, critical facilities, road networks, imagery, etc.) that help non‑GIS users and emergency managers access actionable location-based intelligence for disaster planning and response.
