ComEd automates 140,000 smart streetlights with TerraGo

Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd), a unit of Exelon Corporation, sought to automate the large-scale deployment of approximately 140,000 smart streetlights. To meet this challenge, ComEd selected applications from vendor TerraGo, specifically its StreetlightOps product, to improve the reliability of public lighting and create efficiencies for municipalities.

TerraGo implemented its zero-code StreetlightOps mobile application framework, which was fully integrated with Itron's platform. This solution provided ComEd with configurable iOS and Android apps for inventory and installation, enabling efficient tracking and commissioning of all smart streetlight nodes. The results included accelerated energy savings for communities and the creation of a reliable infrastructure capable of supporting future sensor-based technologies.
