How UMBC Grew its Programs With Terra Dotta

University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s global education team was relying on entirely paper processes to manage incoming and outgoing student information. Staff spent about 30% of their time on paper processing, records were incomplete, and the lack of a cloud-based system made remote work and quick access to information difficult.

Terra Dotta provided solutions for incoming and outgoing students, including ISSS, Study Abroad, Travel Registry, and AlertTraveler. With Terra Dotta, the university moved student applications and records online, gained time back for programming, and grew from one faculty-led study abroad program with seven students in 2016 to 2 programs and 22 students in 2017, 4 programs and 42 students in 2018, and 8 programs and more than 100 students in 2019. The team now says 200–250 students travel abroad each year.
