NedTrain, a Dutch Railways subsidiary responsible for train maintenance and servicing, had implemented SAP FI/CO in 2009 but struggled to analyze the large volumes of siloed data. Manual Excel exports produced costly, error-prone reports that could take up to two days, and SAP BW proved too expensive—so the company needed a cost-effective, scalable BI solution to consolidate data and deliver timely, accurate insights.

After a 2010 proof of concept, NedTrain implemented Teradata Analytics for SAP®, leveraging pre-built cubes, reports and dashboards that were quickly customized for departmental needs. The platform delivered a single version of the truth, empowered about 250 business users with self-service BI, reduced reporting time and cost, and enabled further integration (including Maximo), improving decision-making and reporting quality across the organization.
