A Teradata Case Study
Komerční banka (KB), a Czech bank formed from the 1990 demerger of the state bank, inherited fragmented branches, siloed IT systems and inconsistent business rules. The weaknesses in information management were exposed by the late‑1990s recession, creating an urgent need to centralize data and adopt analytics-driven decision making.
KB implemented a Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse in 1999 and then added analytical CRM (2002) and Basel II risk integration (2004), centralizing information, improving customer segmentation and streamlining operations. As a result the bank’s share value rose 17‑fold since 1999, the Basel II solution yields roughly €200 million in annual savings, and thousands of users now rely on unified BI for cross‑selling, risk and performance management.
