A Teradata Case Study
Turkcell, Turkey’s leading telecommunications and technology company with 71.5 million customers, was struggling to turn massive network signaling data—about 20 billion rows daily and 1.2 PB annually—into timely, actionable insight. Their legacy reporting system could retain only one week of data, suffered latency on complex queries, and could not correlate across network layers (2G/3G/fiber/voice/data/SMS), making end-to-end analysis and fast trouble detection impractical.
After a seven-month implementation of the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance 2700, Turkcell now ingests probe data in near real-time into an ODS and DW, produces tailored data marts, dashboards and extracts for SAS, and runs cross-layer correlations and complex queries efficiently. Retention rose to 3–12 months, alarms that previously took 45–60 minutes are now real-time, and the system has driven use cases—from identifying faulty device models and network hotspots to supporting churn models and corporate analytics—materially improving network quality and customer experience.
