China Courier Service Corporation (CCSC), the State Post Bureau’s express-mail arm and China’s largest EMS provider, needed to replace aging track-and-trace platforms that caused inconsistent data, slow updates and limited analytics as volume and service offerings grew. The company required a high-performance, centrally controlled system able to handle real-time updates from dozens of heterogeneous sources and support detailed operational and management reporting.

CCSC partnered with Teradata to build an active data warehouse with a real-time layer, ESB-based data integration, and mixed workload management using continuous and mini-batch loading. Launched in 2006, the platform unified queries, shortened mail-status updates from hours to minutes (typically under five minutes, with portable terminals as fast as three seconds), now loads ~6 million records/day and handles up to 600,000 queries/day—improving customer service, operational supervision and decision-making while boosting business growth.
