Bank Zachodni WBK - Customer Case Study

Bank Zachodni WBK (BZ‑WBK) is one of Poland’s largest commercial banks that had grown rapidly through acquisitions and expanding services. By 2009 its legacy enterprise data warehouse was exhausted—limited storage, poor disaster recovery, slow query performance and stalled analytics projects were creating operational risk and preventing the bank from realizing strategic data‑driven initiatives.

After a formal RFP BZ‑WBK selected Teradata to upgrade and manage the EDW; the solution went live on time and on budget in August 2010. The new platform doubled capacity, added redundancy, integrated 50+ source systems, and enabled MIS and CRM applications (including SIZ/SIZar) and anti‑money‑laundering tools. Results included dramatically faster reporting (credit/risk reporting shortened to weeks), up to 65–70% cost savings in the first year and a projected ROI breakeven at 18 months, improved data quality and analytics, and measurable gains in marketing, risk management and operational efficiency.
