Tintri Takes the Worry Out of Storage for Leading Pharmaceutical Supplier

Colorcon, a leading pharmaceutical supplier, faced significant challenges with its aging and complex NetApp SAN storage environment. Managed by DBAs and VMware admins instead of a dedicated storage expert, the infrastructure was difficult to maintain, prone to performance issues, and costly to support. The company needed a solution to separate its VMware storage, simplify management, and reduce expenses, which led them to partner with vendor Teneo.

Teneo recommended and implemented a solution using four Tintri VMstore T540 arrays with ReplicateVM. This new VM-aware storage system dramatically simplified administration, cutting the time to deploy new VMs from 20 minutes to just 2 minutes—a 10x improvement. The move eliminated the need to hire a dedicated storage administrator and provided substantial cost savings, as the purchase price of the first Tintri array with three years of support was equal to merely adding support to their old SAN. The solution also streamlined data replication between datacenters, greatly improving disaster recovery and overall WAN efficiency for Colorcon.
